Feeling jaded? Need a break? Duart Homestay, in Central Otago
will soothe and cosset you be it on verandahs, in our
extensive stone terraced garden, or in winter, by the
sitting room fire. Your
complete privacy is assured, but we enjoy company and
conversation, if that is your wish. There are superb views from our secluded home, 5 minutes from Alexandra. Enjoy the vistas. East, the sun rises over the rocky outcrops and hills above the Manuherikia river, magic on a misty morning. West it sets over the Remarkable Mountains, near Queenstown. South, the lights of Alexandra compete with the stars (it almost never rains here). North, we're signposted on Highway 85, en route to Ranfurly, and via the Pigroot to Dunedin. Walks are available on private land, along the river, the Rail Trail which we look down on and can pick you up from various points along, or unforgettably, when the thyme blooms, over the hills. There is good fishing (in nearby lakes, dams and rivers), kayaking, mountain biking and a myriad of other sporting activities. Exploring gold mining ruins, wineries, vineyard tours, orchards, galleries, restaurants and shops are popular. Rohan, of Lord of the Rings (Poolburn) is just over the hills nearby, Queenstown and Wanaka are an hour away by car; Dunedin and Invercargill, and the Catlins, two. Sky t.v., laundry facilities, our library, complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit are available any time. Continental breakfast with homemade preserves, jams, muesli and yoghurt is ready when you are. Dinner @ $25.00 featuring local cuisine and home grown produce, is by arrangement. outside only. BOOKING POLICY When you make a booking, we ask for either your credit card details or a cheque for one night's tariff. CANCELLATION POLICY Any booking cancelled 48 hours or more prior to your arrival date, will have the deposit fully refunded.
